The scheduled date (first week of July 2004) had to be postponed. The local authorties refused our request. According to the enviromental office, the launch area, a local gliding place, should be shut down so they even do not want to have a rocketry launch weekend on this place. Even we cannot accept the reasons given, we need to move our event to a new launch area at a new date in 2005. As soon as we have more details, they will be published here soon!
The 1st MFN - Modellraketen Flugtag Niederrhein (Model Rocketry Launch Weekend Lower Rhine) will take place in the northwest corner of North-Rhine Westphalia, Germany. The IMR will apply for a special permission from the Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -pruefung (BAM), the German engine certification authority, to grant us to fly non-certified foreign engines and igniters during the event (according to §5 Abs. 3 SprengG). It means we can fly almost all kinds of foreign engines incl. AeroTech/Cesaroni! Some restrictions apply, pls. see below.
Location: Emmerich/Germany, North-Rhine Westphalia (close to the Dutch border).
Time: Flights between approx. 10:00 - 20:00. Reserve weekend in case of very poor weather: --
Starts: We can launch models with certified and uncertified engines incl. staging and clusters! Launches needs to be supervised by the organizer. We welcome all model rocketry, highpower, amateur/experimantal rocket flights as long as they meet our safety code or general safety regulations and you use engines according to our permission.
Engines: You may launch all engines certified in Germany or bring your own foreign engines with you (as long as they are legal in their respective country). See below for details! The organizer will not provide engines!
Launch Site: A new launch area will be located. The pictures will show our old area:

Site equipment: Standard model rocketry pads and launchers available, you may bring your own equipment.
Dealers: The organizer will not sell engines. If you plan to bring and use foreign engines without a German certification on the site, e.g. AeroTech, Cesaroni, pls. get in touch with your foreign dealer in advance to arrange your motor supply! A list of European dealers is available at European Model Rocketry. At the launch site, Caveman Rocketry from the Netherlands will be present.
Insurance: We will apply for an organizer insurance. This does not cover damages with models! According to the laws, all starters are reliable for damages with own models so please check if your insurance covers launches in Germany (pls. do not forget to make copies!). If you have no insurance, we can supply a 3-day temporary insurance for a small fee (details on our German insurance page).
How to get there: Emmerich is located in the northwest corner of North-Rhine Westphalia, very close to the Dutch border.
Accomodation/Dinner: Pls. book your own accomodation! There are several hotels available, pls. visit the homepage of the city of Emmerich or call the infoCenter Emmerich, phone ++49 (0)2822 94150. For Saturday night, a dinner is planned. If interested, pls. check the field on the online entry form.
Safety Regulations: At the MRF, the IMR model rocketry and highpower safety codes will apply (same as NAR & TRA code). For HPR flights, a valid HPR certification level is required. For details, pls. refer to our launch rules page (in German language only).
